US Passport Photo Size: Exact Dimensions
The US Department of State requires passport and visa photos to be exactly 2 x 2 inches(51 x 51mm). This is a fixed requirement — submitting a photo of the wrong size is one of the most common reasons for application delays.

Other requirements
- Head height (chin to top of hair) must be between 1 and 1 3/8 inches (25-35mm)
- Eye height from the bottom of the photo should be between 1 1/8 and 1 3/8 inches (28-35mm)
- Background must be plain white or off-white, no shadows or patterns
- Taken within the last 6 months, in color, full face front view
- No glasses (as of recent guidance), no head coverings except for religious/medical reasons
